It is a delight to offer this rare example of American Gypsy Roma (Rom, Romani, Romanichal) jewelry that takes the form of a cuff bracelet.

Visually impressive, weighty, and striking in presence, it was handmade and created in 14k rose gold. Motifs include the Gypsy Queen, or cameo, a good luck horseshoe framing her profile, and four appliques of six-pointed flowers or stars.

The cameo rests in high relief with hair ornaments and tiara, a lavish coiffure, a necklace, draped shoulders, and a synthetic ruby chest (original and correct for the period and type).

Hand-engraved designs add flourishes of zigzags, cross hatching. and floral and leaf patterns adorning the rich surface.

uses the word rare because when a Roma dies, most all personal possessions (including jewelry) are often buried with that individual.

The exception is that one and only one ring of a deceased mother is given to her eldest daughter. Additionally, it goes against Gypsy principles to sell the possessions of the deceased; although recently, in financial hardship, it is permitted to sell jewelry but only to non-Roma.
