With a certain note of whimsy, this vintage Retro-era brooch takes us for a ride.

Created in 18k rose gold and with added touches of white gold, the theme is an old-fashioned donkey cart and driver. Utilizing a blend of abstraction and realism, it has a delightful air about it that is unmistakable.

The driver wears a wide-brimmed hat, has on a cloak, and holds reins that are formed of twisted white gold. Behind him inside the cart blooms a spray of flowers dotted with rubies.

The cart’s wheel holds a centered teal green tourmaline. Connecting the cart to the donkey, a line of baguette diamonds is crossed with another bracing of single-cut diamonds.

Representing the eye of the animal is another baguette diamond, with one also at the bit. Artfully interpreted, its legs are striated, and its tail presents an extra bit of fancy as it appears as an old-time whisk broom bristle.

At the animal’s feet, three flower blossoms are punctuated with emerald green glass centers. Prancing and joyful.
