Today’s offering showcases this very cool and collectible Windrider Chrono Sextant watch. Produced in fairly small quantities for a few years in the mid-1990’s and ceasing production in 1997, very nice examples don’t often come up for sale.
In many ways it looks like a traditional Breitling chronograph – like most it showcases sophisticated lines, unique rider tab style bezel, and an attention to detail in both the aesthetic and technical realm. It is “an instrument for professionals.”
However, besides being uncommon, the Chrono Sextant possesses two other unusual features. First it measures a little over 36mm in diameter, making it perfect for those with less sizable wrists and 10% – 20% (or more) smaller than many other Breitling chronos.
Secondly, it features a Frederic Piguet designed electromechanical movement that combines a quartz watch movement with a mechanical chronograph module. This special marriage gives the watch the unrivaled accuracy of quartz timekeeping with the elegance of a mechanical chronograph. As a mechanical chronograph it has the ability to measure events in 1/5 of a second increments using only the sweep hand and doesn’t need an additional subdial.
It is scratch-free and in just short of mint condition. Our Master Watchmaker has performed any needed servicing.
For the finishing touch we have installed a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Also included at no charge is an aftermarket bracelet that was on the watch when we acquired it.
Included with the purchase is a new one-year international warranty on the movement and its function and a Certificate of Authenticity.
