In many ways it looks like a traditional Breitling chronograph – like most it showcases sophisticated lines, unique rider tab style bezel, and an attention to detail in both the aesthetic and technical realm. It is “an instrument for professionals.”
However, besides being uncommon, the Chrono Sextant possesses two other unusual features. First it measures a little over 36mm in diameter, making it perfect for those with less sizable wrists and 10% – 20% (or more) smaller than many other Breitling chronos.
Secondly, it features a Frederic Piguet designed electromechanical movement that combines a quartz watch movement with a mechanical chronograph module. This special marriage gives the watch the unrivaled accuracy of quartz timekeeping with the elegance of a mechanical chronograph. As a mechanical chronograph it has the ability to measure events in 1/5 of a second increments using only the sweep hand and doesn’t need an additional subdial.
This dial variation is our favorite – the blue and slate look beautiful together and the slate makes a very nice combination with the steel case.
It is scratch-free and in just short of mint condition – on the wrist it presents as mint. We don’t rate it perfect mint because it shows signs of having been polished by Breitling. It was previously fully serviced by Breitling authorized vintage service center at a cost of $725, and comes complete with a new Breitling band and original Breitling buckle.
Accompanying it are its original boxes and booklets and the servicing receipt.
Included with the purchase is a new one-year international warranty on the movement and its function.
