One currently holds a mirror and another an empty compartment suitable for a memento or photograph.

Rendered with a confident hand, this is a classic Art Nouveau design with its scrolling waves, asymmetrical patterns, and a suggestion of an underwater oceanscape with seaweed and shell. Petite flowers also dot both the front and back.

French in origin, it dates to circa 1900.
